The Muskegon River is one
of the hottest tail water
rivers in America with

different mayflies, caddis,

loaded with trophy rainbow
and brown trout. The lower
sections hold their
own as a world class
smallmouth bass fishery.
Western Michigan's rivers are
home to exceptional runs of
Great Lakes salmon,
steelhead, and lake run brown
trout. We guide spring, fall
and winter
steelhead over 10 months a

Welcome to Mike Heck's Trout
Guides. I'm Mike Heck the
owner. I've been fly fishing
for more than twenty years,
and I've been a professional
guide for ten years and the
past six years I have been a
part of the Orvis
professional guide program.
If new to fly fishing, I
offer beginner classes with
equipment provided by Orvis
that will put you on the
right track, or maybe you
need to learn where to find
the wary trout that are found
in our spring creeks. For
this, I offer guiding on the
Falling Springs, LeTort and
Yellow Breeches as well as
some other South Central PA
streams and will show you how
and where to find these trout
and techniques and flies used
to catch trout.

Trout & About is a
professionally operated fly
fishing instruction, guiding
and destination service
located right on the
Gunpowder River.
We offer one and two day fly
fishing schools for up to six
people and personal on-stream
schools for up to two
people. Our instructors are
led by Trout & About owner
Phil Gay who is an FFF Master
certified instructor. Phil
has also authored two
instructional
videos, "Practical Fly
Casting" and "Presentation
Casts for Trout". Call or e-

Our guiding features the
Gunpowder River and other
select catch and release or
special regulation waters in
Maryland and central
Pennsylvania. We can look at
the Gunpowder across the
backyard so we know it well
and fish it often.
Our destination trips are
highly select and feature the
Harpster water on Spruce
Creek in central PA. We have
booked 75 days on this
fabulous private water in
2005 and will have the same
for 2006. These trips
include lodging, home cooked
meals, an open bar, a
selection of complimentary
flies, a commenorative
ballcop and limited guiding.
We also tailor trips to
Western Maryland to fish the
North Fork of the Potomac,
the Savage and the
Casselman. We do the same
for the Little Juniata in
central PA. These trips are
typical 2-3 days and include
meals and lodging.
