Current Report
Today we fish in Filo Hua Hum Spring Creek, it was an exceptional day of fishing surrounded by an amazing scenery that invites you to stay overnight under those stars waiting for dawn to try to catch one of those beautiful browns that this waters hold… The place: Spring Creek and Arroyo Nuevo of Filo Hua Hum lake. The equipment: Rods N° 4 with floating and fast sinking lines for the Bocas of the creek on the lake. The flies: in dry flies we used Baetis patterns in size 18 and in streamers the one that get all the applause was Dr. Lecter in the Lake. The fishing: was very calm in the morning, because the Spring creek is not full of water so it’s very difficult to cheat the trout, so we went to the Rio Nuevo to see if those beautiful rainbows were there rising to the hatches that this fertile river has every day. There we caught some beautiful rainbows with the Baetis N° 18, it was amazing to see how the trout slowly take our fly, an incredible experience that you can’t see often. Then in the afternoon we tried our casts in the lake where the creek flows into the deep waters, we had some wild strikes but we couldn’t get the trout to the net, except one silver brown trout that gave us an amazing fight an the smiling we let it swim away… The weather: sunny all day long, but we had some wind in our backs that sometimes bother us with the casts. www.mendozaflyshop.com
