Current Report
For the first time since 1993, a fresh (sea-liced) spring salmon has been taken on the Opening Day of the Season - February 1st. – on the Blackwater Lodge Fishery on the world-famous Cork Blackwater river in Southern Ireland. And it was a first ever salmon as well!!!! Caught by Jan Krempek (a new Lodge employee since only 2 days), it was taken on spinner from the Hut Pool on Beat 8 (Upper Kilmurry) at 2.45pm on the Opening Day. Even more interestingly, there were a number of fresh springers to 12-14lb. seen on the lower beats during the day, which shows that there is quite a good run of springers coming in. There are still plenty of rods & accommodation available during February with the special spring offer of free fishing for the month.
