Current Report
The river is clear with normal water flow and lot's of MAYFLYS!!! Pseudocloeons (I know their not called that any more but that's what I still call them). These are sulphur colored and they are everywhere.I used size 26-28 comparaduns pale yellow with coastal deer hair wings and caught some trout. They were small but felt good on the 7ft.Payne taper I fished with today. At dusk dark brown Iso spinners started appearing and trout began keying on them. This Iso is not bicolor(which hatches on the Mad in spring around the last week of May)it is sadleri. There's three broods per year.bicolor, sadleri and then harperi. Bicolor is grey in color, sadlier is more reddish brown. An over sized Red Quill works for these species. Use 6-7x tippet, your gonna need it. Great day on the water. I will try to post at least twice a month to keep you up on the hatches and river conditions. Now that I've retired and have alot of time to kill either making cane rods or fishin the Mad. Have fun and release your catch. And most of all respect the landowners property.
