Current Report
This is just the beginning
of a fantastic trout season!
With the higher water levels
of this past spring, the
Muskegon River is absolutely
loaded with salmon fry
creating some unbelievable
streamer fishing! You just
can't beat a salmon fry
pattern stripped near the
bank!
As for upcoming hatches, the
warm, humid air is perfect
for brown drakes, sulfers,
isonychia bicolor, and and
our most prolific may fly,
the Gray Drake. These
spinner fall just before
dark attracting large browns
and rainbow
trout! Over the next few
weeks, Streamer fishing for
trout should be excellent!
Larger streamer and fry
patterns have been fishing
well. I expect great dry fly
for trout also over the next
month!
During the past few days,
water temps have increased
into the mid 50's. Afternoon
hatches of caddis and brown
drakes in the evening have
the trout feeding well.
During overcast days,
stripping salmon fry
patterns has produced a good
number of trout.
Catch of the Week

One-Week Fishing Forecast
For the next ten days,
nymphing behind spawning
suckers and steelhead should
be fantastic. Lake Michigan
suckers have arrived and are
spawing in full force. Many
of the resident Muskegon
River trout gorge themselves
on sucker spawn. Micro eggs
and small nymphs fished with
a floating line and
indicator can be deadly!

Two-Week Fishing Forecast
The weather over the next
two week should be perfect
for trout fishing and insect
activity. warmer weather and
humid!
>
