Current Report
BOOK YOUR FALL STEELHEAD TRIP NOW:Steelhead fishing is heating up and after this rain it will be hot for the rest of November and December. We will be following each run of fish from the mouth of the Muskegon river up to the Croton dam until May. Also book your winter 1/2 day specials!: MUSKEGON RIVER FISHING REPORT:November 27th,2005 Nov.19th,Out again with Larry Lee and buddy got a late start, water was low and clear. Our 1st stop was our only stop as we caught fish all day, here are some of the pictures, Steelhead were in the back of the holes, fast runs and alot of fish were still holding behind the Salmon beds. November 16th, Here is a brief update, these last rains with the cold weather has brought the water levels up a little and pushed the fish up into the mid to upper river, fishing will be excellent from now through the end of the year, we still have some openings don't miss out on some of the best fishing of the year. November 15th, I am taking a week for deer hunting and here is my 2nd day Nov. 14th with a 20" spread heavy beam 8 pt. dressed 176lbs shot with a bow. Good hunting to all! November 13th, will up-date soon! Steelhead are thru entire system, try the upper stretch with spawn. November 6th fished with Ken and Tomo mid river for there first time. River raised several feet over night and was mud at first light, Ken hooked-up on a king first hole and lost next to boat. Several other hits before moving.Tomo lost two 25lbs plus silver Salmon at our next stop and Ken boated a nice rainbow, before we had to take a break and sit in our cars to get warm.1:30pm back out did lunch sill cold and raining, more hits as water was clearing.Last hole Ken landed a nice Steelhead and Tomo had two more big Kings get the best of him right at dark, I was surprised how many new Salmon today. November 5th out with Mark and Lance from Utah near Muskegon for some good old swamp fishing for steelhead (My favorite) Water was as low as it gets fish were in the jams, brush, anything with wood for cover. Mark started the day with a nice steelhead from our third stop. Lance got two from some tight conditions at the 5th stop one of which Mark did a brief battle with, 6 feet from the boat and dropped a new bait to watch this hungary male inhale the bait again and Lance done the honors for third steelie before lunch. Mark did battle with 9 to 10lb steelie in a 4 foot by 6 foot hole in a log jam, it was fun to watch but the heart breaking little stick that these fish seem to find ended the show. It was a good day. November 4th Kenny had a 2 hour window to get in on some swamp fishing in town and we pulled two nice chrome steelies by the third stop, not a bad lunch break for Ken and we had one minute to spare when I checked. It was great to fish with Ken again. Saturday October 29th. We are catching Steelhead daily, and today Brad from Pennsylvania landed 2 nice male Steelhead and a limit of Salmon plus all the ones that got away, it was a great day on the water. Friday October 28th Scott,Todd and Rick had a awesome day celebrating Rick's birthday catching lots of Salmon landed at least 9 for 30 with one true 30 pounder biggest one landed this fall. Good job Rick! BOOK YOUR SPRING KING SALMON CHARTER NOW:With the holidays approaching getting a loved one a gift certifacate for a fishing trip is a great idea. April is the start of Lake Michigan brown trout fishing followed by the awesome spring King Salmon in May ( see photo gallery "SPRING KINGS"). Monday November 7th Report by First Mate Jordan Musselmen. Salmon are still being caught in the Muskegon channel and the steelhead are staging around 40 to 60 f.o.w in the top 30 ft. Small spoons trolled fast is a good bet. Muskegon Lake Fishing Report:Nov.27th,2005 Saturday Nov.5th Report by Jordan Musselmen. I was at the mouth of Muskegon river and watched a large school of Salmon entering the river, what a site! Steelhead Charters U.S.C.G. Licensed and Insured Captain Art Schotts Jr. 5009 Whitehall Rd.
