Current Report
Fishing on the Manistee River continues to be strong. Water levels are about perfect 1600-1800 cfs, water temps somewhere between 34-36 degrees. Most fish have gone into there winter lies, less fish movement the past couple days. Dark and Deep is the name of the game for the holding water, to combat that you need to fish SLOW. Multiple casts working that bubble line inside and out. Try looking for those slower lies very close to structure. On days when temps climb above freezing throw a float or Indicator and bring your flies above the structure that these steelhead are using to slow down the current for them. Your player fish will be in the middle of the water column anyway. Buggers in black and olive, big bushy hex's and don't forget about fry patterns the next month or so. King salmon fry will be popping soon. Tight Lines and continue to check the website as update reports will continue to come. www.hawkinsflyfishing.com/con ditions.php Jon Ray
