Current Report
The fishing on the muskegon river the last few days has been great ! Combine warmer temps and falling water and you get perfect conditions to fish steelhead in Feburary. Most of the catch has been winter holdovers with a smal percentage of spring fish showing.A day or two ago we even got a late running Lake run brown of about 5 lbs. There have been no signs of spawning and the fish are all being taken out of deeper pools and smaller pockets with the correct bottom.Look for a rough cobbled bottom to find these winter steelhead.Slower water is the key as these fish are trying to reserve energy for the up coming spawn.Your best bets are small eggs ad nymphs in natural sizes and colors on lighter flouro leaders. We will be on the river several of the next few days and will report more then. For more info on the muskegon river and current fishing reports you can always surf to www.riversbendguideservice.com Thanks, Capt. Jon
