Current Report
Grand Traverse Bay Michigan Fly Fishing Report. 6/2/2008 Jon's Guide Service www.jonsguideservice.com (231) 369-2997 -Water levels, normal - low - Water temps (best has been 58-62 degrees) Fly fishing for smallmouth bass on Grand Traverse Bay is underway for the 2008 season. A colder spring has kept water temps on the cooler side untill June. Grand Traverse Bay is seeing spawning fish as well as good numbers of pre-spawn fish in groups looking for water temps to bring them into the shallows. Baitfish patterns, leeches, and general streamers have been working best. Fishing should peak about the third week of June. East bay is seeing better numbers of fish in the shallows due to heavy W/NW winds as of late, but west bay will see action with the warmer temps. Look for warm water from local rivers, streams, and lakes to hold the best number of fish. Smallmouth in the 4lb - 7lb range have been the norm.
