Current Report
With the recent rain and subsequent melt off of the snow pack the water in the Pere Marquette and Manistee has been running very high and off colored. The high water has brought a fresh push of fish flying up the river. With water temps at 42 degrees major spawning activity should be taking place soon. The hold over, winter fish appear to have started spawning. Look for fish on or near historic spawning areas. The best flies recently have been larger more visible meals. Peacock Buggers, stoneflies and caddis have all had their days recently. Yesterday afternoon chartreuse and Oregon cheese puff balls produced. The next couple of weeks will be the best of the spring season. With rain coming today look for the water to rise again and bring in a fresh run of steelhead. Trout fishing is also starting to pick up, as steelhead eggs and salmon fry are on the diet. Interested in doing a early season streamer trip let us know. www.hawkinsflyfishing.com check out the updated fishing reports. Tight Lines, Hawk Release all wild fish!
