After a half inch of rain on Tuesday night the river crept up all day Wednesday. Water temps held thru the day in the mid sixties and peaked at 68F at 4pm.
Overnight temps dropped down to just above freezing and at 5:30am we recorded the air temp at 36F. At 8 am the water temp was 56F
Cool daytime temps and another cold night are forecast before more rain on Friday and Saturday.
Fishing has been decent with some good numbers of grilse hooked Tuesday and Wednesday.
Most productive fly has been the Black Ghost this week so far.
Today was the day the big push arrived last season!!!!!!!!
July 8th
Fishing has been tight over the past few days with the exception of Big Hole. Water temps are great, most mornings start at about 58-62F and are up to about 70-72F by early evening. Water levels are just perfect on the Northwest and with a little rain and cooler temps that are forcast things should pick up The big run of grilse is once again fashionably late.
July 5th A good rain brought the river up over 10 inches yesterday. Fishing was spotty at best but there seemed to be plenty of fish going. Water temps are in the 50s in the morning and mid 60s by the evening.
More rain forecast for today and tomorrow. Manny reports that the Grilse have hit all the tribs of the NW. Good numbers of large salmon amongst them.
The barrier on the head waters of the Northwest had counted just under 100 large salmon entering by early last week.
It has been a spectacular season so far with our large salmon catches up 20 fold over previous years.

July 2nd
A small rise in water yesterday brought some fresh fish upriver. Water temps have been steady all day at 66F and the morning low was 60F.
