Current Report
After a late start to the
season the salmon have been
returning in great numbers.
Some of the branches are up
500% over last years high. A
few of the camps along the
river are posting 30 to 40
fish days on as few as 4
rods. We have been having
good success on our private
stretch in Blissfield but
have been fishing the
Southwest from the head of
tide to Doaktown. The water
levels are excellent and the
fish have been able to move
upriver un-impeded. Fishermen
have been hooking up just
about anywhere you can throw
a fly.
This season on the Southwest
Miramichi is been described
as the best in over fifty
years and it just keeps
getting better. The salmon
keep coming!
The Northwest had a good run
of about 15,000 fish so far
but will need a little rain
to freshen things up. Big
Hole (just down river from
our lodge) is holding several
thousand salmon. These salmon
are expected to move up with
the next raise in water.
Most other tributaries of the
Miramichi are experiencing
the same phenomenal runs of
salmon. This is great news in
the face of diminishing runs
worldwide. This season will
mark the sixth consecutive
year of increased runs on our
rivers.
If there ever were a time to
be on the Miramichi it would
be now
