Current Report
05/22/2005- 1:30pm.-5pm. Stonycreek Rvr. Somerset, southwest PA. WEATHER- Bright,Clear,Sunny, to Partly cloudy and kinda windy. WATER Conds.- Fairly low but nice and a little more color than last week.Temp.- Forgot to take? low 50F's? FLIES- #18 Caddis Dries many different styles and colors, Bill F. a little larger caddis dries #12-14? I only managed to bring to hand 1, small rainbow. Bill F. did excellent, alots of fish 20+/- Browns, Brooks and Rainbows. All fish were caught, hooked and missed on Caddis Dries#18-#12. We both missed and hooked a good amount of fish. HATCHES- Caddis(Blk., Grn., & Tan), a few BWO's and we each saw a Sulphur. RISERS- a few not as many as last week but still many willing to take a dry.(maybe the bright/ clear skies) I took Bill F. to the Stonycreek Rvr. today for the first time but this was a guiding(teaching)trip. Bill is one of the most experienced and knowledgable flyfishers I've meet so it was kinda a river tour. We both fished but I tried to stay in one spot and let him fish as much water as I could before he yelled at me to come on and fish. Bill getting up there in years so he didn't really "Match the Hatch" he used bigger and brighter flies so he could see them and did very well. Great day!!! It's wonderful to take someone who's been all over the world fishing to a place right by they're home they never considered fishing. To have such a great time and see a old Master do what he does best. Later, Joe Ike joeike@keystoneanglingheritag e.com or joeikeill@yahoo.com
