Current Report
05/27/2005- 1pm.-1:20pm.
Small Freestone Mtn. Run
Lycoming county,
northcentral,PA. WEATHER-
Overcast,cool, light breeze,
low 60's. WATER Conds.- Low
and Clear. Temp.- didn't
take vest cold 50's??? FLIES-
#18 elk hair/peacock caddis
dry. I caught 2, 1 of the
brightest most beautiful
wild Browns 8-9" out there
and 1 Nice bright Native
Brookie. I got both fish on
the #18 Caddis Dry. Also
hooked one tiny brookie and
missed a fish. HATCHES-
Wasn't there long didn't
notice much.- Caddis and
midges. RISERS- saw 2 rising
the brown I caught and the
one fish I missed. SORRY....
I try not to post the names
of Tiny Fragile Native Brook
trout streams, Because some
of them just can't handle
much pressure. I have seen
Many of my Favorite
Native/Wild Trout streams
completely ruined by a few
Slobs, garbage,overfishing,
stocking and/or "Posting"/
Development (Camps/cabins).
After leaving Cross Fork, I
headed over Pine Mt. to meet
John in Slate Run. On the
way I stopped and fished a
tiny little stream I only
had a limited time to waste
so I grabbed the little rod
and crawled up the bank. I
fished about 30 yds. of
water and caught 2 Beautiful
Wild trout and left. But,
while walking out I found a
Buck Skull and saw a fresh
set of Bear tracks. Great
Time! Later, Joe Ike
