Current Report
06/25/2005- 5pm.-8:30pm.-
Hickston Run Reservoir
Cambria county, Southwest,
PA. WEATHER- Overcast/Mostly
cloudy, Hot/humid/hazy, mid-
low 90's. WATER Conds.-
EXTREMELY LOW, fairly clear-
with a greenish chalky stain
(especially around carp and
in shallows/and creek
channel.) FLIES- #10 Olive
Dragonfly nymph, #10
Whitlock's red fox nymph,
#10-2/0 Clouser deep
minnows, #6 Ike's Crayfish,
and #4 Ike's topwater Frog.
I caught 1- Carp 26-28" 10-
12lbs., 1- perch 12-13",5-
sunfish/bluegill, 11-
Largemouth Bass 10-17". I
got the carp,
sunfish/bluegill,& perch on
smaller flies and got
Largemouth Bass mainly on
Ike's Frog and couple on
Clouser Deep minnows. Did
hook/roll 3 other carp and
missed a few carp. Lost a
few nice Bass in weeds on
frog and clousers. HATCHES-
midges and some damsel flies
(lt. olive). RISERS- Had
some carp come up to eat
floating plants and
bluegills and bass take
dragon & damsel flies. Some
fish busting baitfish too
close to shore. I decided to
stop at Hickston while I was
on the hill after teaching
at the NRA shooting sports
camp. I just stopped to
check out how low the water
was, but noticed some
feeding carp and no other
anglers in that area of the
lake. So I grabbed the rod
from the van and fished
awhile and did fairly well.
Started targeting carp but
after catching the one and
missing,rolling/hooking a
few they got turn off so I
targeted Bass and did good
also. Great Evening... Later
