Current Report
Hello, All I just put the whole Month of August Fishing Reports in one Report again like July. But, not much to Report this month. The Water has been in BAD shape this Summer, and GAS PRICES!!!! Well!!!!…….. Anyways because of those two problems my fishing and business have been slow this August. Which some of you that usually read my reports or know me, must have realized things have been bad, cause I usually have a New report at least once or more times a week. Hopefully these past storms, and Hurricane Katrina remains, help our waterways. I have only been fishing a few times around the house. Falling Springs once on 08/09/2005 for a couple hours, only managed one Rainbow and a Sculpin (Strange?) , hooked a good bit. Hoppers were everywhere, I fished Hoppers and nymphs (Tricos, scuds, & midge larva) with all fish taking the nymphs. Few Tricos in the Air but not much fish activity on the surface or flies, lots of terrestrials around too. Water was little low, Crystal Clear, Really Weedy (this years weeds are worse than usual), water temp. 55F. The Rest of my fishing was for Carp this August on Conococheague Creek “The Jig!”. I fished there August 20,23,27,& 30 for Carp. In those 4 days I fished and average of 2 ½ hrs a day, and managed 6 Carp, 3 Bluegill, 1 Rainbow trout, 1 Rock Bass, & 1 Largemouth Bass. The Water Conditions were Very Low, with a small rise after a couple storms came through, “The Jig” is usually Stained, and was Fairly Clear 2 days, stained 1 day (1’-1 ½’ Vis.), & Muddy 1 Day - 1”Vis. There has been a few Hex’s Hatching and I Targeted Fish with large Nymphs #6 Ike’s Hex, #2-10 Whitlock’s RFS Nymphs, #10-12 Hare’s Ears’, & Crazy Charlie’s #2-14 Many Colors. I also Managed to hook a 6-Carp, the problems is “The Jig is a Tangled mess of Log Jams, Fallen Trees, and over hanging brush, and Snapped 5 of those 6 off . I also missed many carp, and a few other fishes. In July Report I posted and ended up fishing Hickston Run Reservoir ) 07/31/2005, while visiting family, Water was Extremely Low!!!, muddy in the Channel and Clear in Main lake. I caught 7 Largemouth Bass in about 4 hrs.and hooked a few others, only 1 small 8-10“ fish the rest nice Hefty 14+” Bass. I was Fishing for Carp but the shallow flats are dry land I did see 3 Carp in casting distance feeding, but got busted by all 3. The only other News around the state, I havn't had the Money to drive around- exploring, fishing, Etc. and most of reliable regional resources havn't been fishing or driving around much either, so not much to report other than around my house. The Stonycreek River, Somerset, PA. had a Liquid Manure Spill Killing hundreds- thousands of fish. I been in touch with Len Lichvar from TU, SCRIP, Etc. and he's going to keep me informed and I'll keep anyone interested informed also. Looking forward to this Fall and Winter, hopefully the Water improves. I will be out the picture for the month of Sept. I'm heading to NC. today and will be in NC. & SC. till around Oct. Hopefully I'll have some Exciting Saltwater Reports and Pictures when I get back in Oct. We have some fly fishing and tying supplies for sale, We're sending E- mails Catalogs to interested parties. Any Fly & Leader Orders out there , are finished, and sent. Any Product Orders, will be taken and filled by my associates, so feel free to E-Mail or Call us. Good Luck all .
