Terrestrials-

Midges-Gray and olive hackle midges in sizes #20- #24, #20-#22 Griffith's Gnats, #18-#22 Brassies and my Mike's Midge Pupa in sizes from 20 through 24, tied to 7X are good bets if you encounter midge sipping trout.

Nymphs-#14-#16 Shrimp, #14-#16 Shenk's Cress Bugs, #16 Mike's Sulphur Nymphs,#18 Mike's Baetis Nymphs, #16- #18 Pheasant Tail Nymphs, #16- #18 Bead Head Pheasant Tail, #14 Red midge larva, #18-#14 Hare's ear nymph w/wo bead head, #12- 14 brown and black stonefly nymphs, #14-16 Yellow Caddis larva, #12-#16 Green caddis larva w/wo bead, #12-#18 prince nymph w/wo bead.

Streamers-Olive, black, brown and crystal woolly buggers #6-#10, Shenks white minnows and sculpins #10-#6, Olive, black or gray zonkers #6-#8, even muddler minnows can entice a strike.

River Flows
The Yellow Breeches is effected by runoff. If the main stem is high and cloudy you one can always fish what the locals call the "run" which is a spring feeder found in Boiling Springs.

I have been fly fishing for more than twenty years, and I've been a professional guide/instructor for ten years and have been affiliated with Orvis for six years. Water Temperature
The run is 50 degrees and clear. The Yellow Breeches is 50 degrees muddy and 4.3'.

Fly-fishing Schools
If new to fly fishing I offer beginner classes with equipment provided by Orvis that will put you on the right track, or maybe you need to learn where to find the wary trout that are found in our spring creeks. For this, I offer year round guiding on the Falling Springs, LeTort and Yellow Breeches as well as some other excellent South Central PA streams and will show you how and where to find these trout and techniques and flies used to catch these wild trout. Come late spring, you can join me and fly fish many other area streams that offer the best native brook and wild brown trout fishing there is to offer. Many of these streams are hidden in the beautiful Appalachian Mountain range so don't forget the camera! I also offer destination trips to the Juniata River and Spring creek.
