Current Report
The ice thawed just enough on March 16th, 2004 at Boca Damn to get out on the partially iced water to do some floatubing. I caught a 12" rainbow trout on a black wooly bugger, sinking line going deep, with a twitch and drop retrieve, I had two more bites that day that I missed on the same fly. We returned the next day(after a wonderful morning of snowboarding at Boreal Ski Resort) to floatube at Boca on St. Patricks Day 2004. The early hot spring temperatures finished off the rest of the ice on the surface on this day. I couldn't get any bites on my wooly buggers. Later in the day we tried a sheeps creek fly that did get a few missed bites. Some hatching activity also started progrssing throughout the day. We maybe saw about 5 fish jump total for the day. The water is very low, you walk across dirt in front of the damn to access the deeper waters on the most southwest corner of the lake. The low water level made for an enjoyable day of floatubing, at normal capacity during good weather there are too many water skier's and jetskier's to have a good day of flyfishing at this body of water. But we will fish here until Frenchman's Lake thaws!
