The Real Deschutes Report

Current Report
The Deschutes River proved very productive this past weekend (Nov. 9/10th) in the North Juction/Davidson Flats area. My good friend John Gerstenberger lost a steelie on an October Caddis, and "unfortunately" (since the season is closed in that area) caught numerous Redside and Whitefish while nymphing for Steelhead. I strictly ran a #4 Black Stone with a #6 Glo-bug Egg (apricot or cotton candy) and did very well. I landed a nice hatchery buck and hen, and lost 3 others. In addition to this excitement, I too had the "misfortune" of landing several nice Redsides, as well as some HUGE Whitefish in the 18-20" range. Had a GREAT trip and never once swung your "typical" steelhead pattern.
