Current Report
Fished the John Day @ Rock Creek on Sunday afternoon (19th) and at another location (friend arranged access through private property) on Monday. Summary: 3 rods, mix of strict fly fishermen and switch-hitters (fly or spin). 1 fish landed - approx. 24" hooked on egg sucking stonefly nymph (size 8 Mustad 36890). Wild fish with beautiful red coloration on cheeks and sides. Strong fish, but no jumps. Fish was landed in the Rock Creek stretch. Other details: Water temp. - 40 F. Overcast sky both days. Est. 50 F air on Sunday, 40 F or lower on Monday. One (:-) questionable) report of a bump on a spinner on Monday by one of the switch-hitters. Fished some very good looking water, but just didn't seem to find strong numbers of fish. Fairly clear water - bottom visible to about 2 - 3 feet of depth.
