The other poster's info on Piru Creek and the East Fork are dead on. If you try Piru, take industrial strength repellant as the black flies on the creek are exceeded only by the ones in Canada in their tenacity. If you can't make it to Kern, your best bet is the San Gabriels. Beautiful hike and gorgeous streams. Avoid summer time due to the number of waders and families can make parking tough. Also, if you just want to get some casting in, a number of city parks stock their ponds and reservoirs. Good luck!
