Current Report
Went up on Dec. 23 & 24. 23rd was windy and in the 40's with a bit of sprinkles and the fish were enjoying small mayfly nymphs although a few took Yong-style midge nymphs. Very subtle takes and I probably missed dozens of strikes without realizing it. Caught about a dozen browns from 12" to the largest (and most sluggish) taped out at 16". Saw no one. Not even the campground guy. The 24th was calm and overcast with no wind and the fishing was similiar and there were some little BWO's coming off but very few. All the fish I caught that day were about 12-14" and spunky. Best fly seemed to be a really ragged 16 gold ribbed hare's ear about 6-7' down from my indicator. Saw 2 other flyfishers all day. Flows are low and the wading was easy. The typical fish were hangin out on the inside ledges of bends but the larger ones were right at the bottom of the deep drop offs. Dress warmly and bring gloves and maybe even a bag for the beer cans that seem to grow along the banks.
