Current Report
I visited the the lower portion of the East Fork from the Cattle Canyon bridge to the fire camp. I was there on Saturday and I was practically alone. It was like being there on a weekday. The force of the storm waters cut a new path for the river. At Follow's Camp the storm waters took trees and picnic tables out and cut a cliff like bank as deep as 9 feet (my estimate) at the river's bend. During the storm the camp hostess was advised to move all of the camp vehicles onto the road. The water had threatened the camp bridge. If the bridge had gone out they would have been stranded. The torrent left a dry, deep, wide, treeless path adjacent to the stream through Follow's Camp. I called Camp Williams. They said the camp is closed for repairs. They plan to open again for Memorial Day. The cafe appears to be open. The flooding tore out all the river pools. The river flows rapidly through its present shallow course. There aren't very many places for fish to hold. It will be interesting to see how the natural surroundings recover. _________________ God does not subtract from the span of a man's life the time he spends fishing (Near Eastern proverb).
