Current Report
Expected to see tons of people up there with the get together and all but was pleased to find only a handful of polite fishers. Weather was clear and sunny with the air temps near the mid 60's and the water about 44 degrees. Tiny (22-26) midge nymphs worked best for me. I tie black thread bodied nymphs with a copper rib and fish them deep. There was a bit of a hatch from about noon till about 2:00 and a variety of BWO emergers and adults patterns worked well for me. I was surprised at the average size of the fish that I caught. Not one of the were smaller than 12" and I got broken off by two fish that had my 6wt Water Seal doubled over. The 6X or my knots gave it up. All in all it is the height of the Winter fishing at the Lower Owens and I'm looking forward to my next trip.
