Current Report
Current Report Water levels have increased considerably due to the recent rainfall. Visibility is 2-3 feet above the Highwood and considerably lower from the Highwood to McKinnon. The river is still fishing well using mayfly nymphs and emergers slow and deep along the seamlines. Good dry fly action with caddis on warm evenings. Streamers were working in select spots where the water along the bank was clear. Insect Activity Heavy hatches of PMD mayflies and some March Browns. Evening Caddis hatches can also be heavy. Our bug screen included the following: large golden stones, PMD and BWO nymphs, worms, caddis, crane fly larva, midge larva Hot Fly Patterns: San Juan Worm Golden Stone Nymph Bitchcreek Nymph PMD/Olive Emerger Clouser Minnow Bow River Bugger River Flows Late runoff is keeping river flows high. Water conditions are still reasonably good above the Highwood. Remember barbless hooks are mandatory in Alberta. GOOD LUCK FISHING OUT THERE!!! Reelflyfishing.com
