Weekly update
Fraser River / Fraser Valley
Report
Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing has been
quite slow despite the
beautiful weather weve been
having. We fished from
Chilliwack all the way down
to Surrey this past week
catching the odd fish hear
and theyre but nothing too
consistent. We have been
trying all the regular winter
baits such as roe, eels,
oolichons etc. High tide in
Mission should be around
11:00 on Saturday, 11:30 on
Sunday, which is perfect for
a late morning start time.
If youre planning on
visiting the Vancouver area
in Feb, March, April or May
we are now booking for spring
Sturgeon charters. You can
book your own boat or join
others who have already done
so and are looking for
anglers to join them. Check
out our new " shared guide
trips" section on our
website. If you are planning
on fishing with us in
October / November for our
best sturgeon fishing action,
dont wait too long to book,
we are already filling dates.

of you looking to learn how
to fish for sturgeon, we are

Trout
Trout fishing has been fair
to good this past week on
both the Fraser mainstream
and backwaters. Late
afternoon stonefly hatches
have been occurring which
really turns on some of those
larger trout. Try fishing
some of the larger gravel
bars such as Queens, Peg Leg,
and Gill Rd and further up in
the canyon area.
Although our preferred method
is fly fishing you can target
these fish with gear and
bait. On the warmer
afternoons when temperatures
rise we usually see a fairly
large Winter Stone fly hatch.
These Stoneflys can reach as
big as 2 cm in length
providing a good food source
for both resident Cutthroat
and course fish such as Chub,
Whitefish and Northern Pike
Minnows.
We will be offering guided
trips for all winter for
Fraser River Cutthroat Trout
as well as several remote
rivers for Cutthroat,
Rainbows and Bull Trout. Give
us a call or e-mail for more
information on our winter
trout fishing.

instruction also available.
Vedder River Steelhead
The Vedder River continues to
produce excellent catches of
both wild and hatchery
steelhead. Both the lower and
mid river have been the hot
areas, lickman rd, bergman,
cottonwoods, Wilson rd, ways
field, tamahi have been some
of the best producers. Water
conditions are low and clear
so make sure you drop down to
a smaller presentation and
hook size. Bait has been a
good producer as has
spinners, wool ties, sand
shrimp and plastic worms. Fly
anglers are producing some
nice fish in the lower river
where current is much slower.
Swinging attractor flys is
most productive but some
anglers are reporting success
dead drifting glo bugs.
Heres one of the top
steelhead producers

Harrison River
Water conditions are very
good on the Harrison, we were
up on Wednesday checking out
the area from Morris Slough
down to the Fraser. Although
we didnt fish, water looks
good other than that bright
sunshine which usually makes
trout fishing tough.
The Harrison can produce some
nice cutthroat during winter
months. None of these fish
are large but the action can
keep any angler interested.
Dead drifting egg patterns is
one of my favorite winter
techniques. Small glo bugs
tied with a bit of weight can
be deadly when drifted just
above the river bottom. There
are also lots of Northern
Pike Minnows and some White
Fish to be caught as well.
This September we are
expecting millions of Pink
Salmon to return to both the
Harrison & Fraser River. Peak
fishing is from Sept 7 to 21.
If your looking for some
incredible action on both fly
and spoon, this is a great
fishery to experience.
Although September is a long
way away, our regular clients
know how fast we sell out. If
youre wanting to experience
this great fishery, give us a
call to reserve your dates.
Chehalis River
The Chehalis River is low and
clear as usual. I would
expect this river to remain
this way unless we get a
significant rainfall. The
snow up at Hemlock is pretty
much gone so were not going
to see much of a rise even if
we do get some heavy rains.
Anglers are reporting fair to
good fishing in the canyon
area, slow fishing down in
the lower river. Make sure
your using small
presentations, light leader
and small hooks.
Join us this summer for our
Annual Finns & Skins
Tournament at Sandpiper Golf
Club. Seats are limited so
you must book early. Call or
e-mail us for details. Only 2
boats remaining.
Remember to conserve your
catch
Tight Lines and we will see
you on the water
