There will also be a large electronics display with Lowrance, Garmin and Hummingbird sounders. Weekly update Fraser River / Fraser Valley Report Sturgeon Sturgeon fishing has picked up over the last few days, water temperatures have risen to 45F and climbing. We had a few jumpers this week with some incredibly strong fish. Our average catch has improved this week with 6 to 12 fish per boat per trip, our largest fish this week was 63 inches caught by Ian Brooks of Sherwood Park Alberta, we also hooked quite a few in the 55 to 60 range. Water clarity is fair with 2 to 3 feet of visibility. Roe and Oolichons are producing most fish, the odd one on ditch eels. Tides are looking great for late this week and next weekend. High tides of 14’8 and even 15’1 are expected by Monday, Tuesday peaking on Wednesday with a 15’1 at 9 AM in Mission. The down side is that the high tide is early AM until late next week. If you’re planning on visiting the Vancouver area in April or May we are now booking for spring Sturgeon charters. You can book your own boat or join others who have already done so and are looking for anglers to join them. Check out our new " shared guide trips" section on our website. If you are planning on fishing with us in October / November for our best sturgeon fishing action, don’t wait too long to book, we are already filling dates. Sturgeon Seminar – we still have seats available for our sturgeon seminar on May 7. Just call or e-mail us for more info. Trout Trout fishing should start to pick up over the next few weeks. Warmer water trends will trigger afternoon and early morning hatches. Also watch for the odd salmon fry to emerge, it won’t be long before we see trout searching shore- lines for these little morsels. Both Pitt lake and Harrison offer fair to good trout fishing in early spring although peak fishing is late spring when water levels starts to rise. We will be offering guided trips for all winter for Fraser River Cutthroat Trout as well as several remote rivers for Cutthroat, Rainbows and Bull Trout. Give us a call or e-mail for more information on our winter trout fishing. Fly Casting Lessons - FLY CASTING SEMINAR PLUS 6 HR GUIDED TRIP This seminar is custom designed for the novice to intermediate, first time fly fishers welcome. Two 2hr fly- casting lessons held on dry land, you will learn how easy Fly-casting really is. We still Sold Out the first seminar and now offering a second for May 14,21,29, sign up on –line or call us. Vedder River Steelhead The Vedder has fished well this week, fair number of both hatchery and wild fish being caught. The entire river is holding fish but if you’re looking for fresh hatchery fish, best to target the lower half of the river. Spring is a great time to start pumping sand shrimp, steelhead can’t resist these little morsels. Check your tides, best pumping is at low tide Point Atkinson. If you looking for a last minute up to date report, Best to call Roger, Rob or Daryl down at Hubs for a current report 604-859-8316. Harrison River Water conditions look good, a few fish being reported by fly anglers but overall fishing has been poor. Most of these fish are in Harrison Lake and should begin migration into the river in mid to late spring following the salmon fry. Until then, this river will offer some fair to good opportunity for trout and the odd steelhead moving into the Chehalis River. This September we are expecting millions of Pink Salmon to return to both the Harrison & Fraser River. Peak fishing is from Sept 7 to 21. If your looking for some incredible action on both fly and spoon, this is a great fishery to experience. Although September is a long way away, our regular clients know how fast we sell out. If you want to experience this great fishery, give us a call to reserve your dates. Harrison Bay Store New Owners Open 6AM – 9PM daily Enter to Win Guided Tip As most of you who fish the Chehalis or Harrison River area know, Harrison Bay Store has changed hands many time. Not really reliable for those of us who need licenses or fishing supplies. The owners of Harrison Bay Campsite & Store have decided to run the store themselves to try and provide anglers and visitors to the area with a reliable place to stop and purchase your camping and fishing needs. They have a good supply of fishing tackle including licenses and bait. To help them get started, we are offering a FREE GUIDED TRIP. Just stop in at the store on your way home from fishing and give James or wife Ellen a fishing report. No secrets needs, just how your day was. You can enter as many times as you want, 1 entry per day. We will draw a winner in early summer. Chehalis River The Chehalis River is still low and clear as usual. Not much else to report other than the same old story. Fish the canyon or deeper runs, which are few. Until we see some rain, that’s about all you can do. Use light gear, smaller floats Again I would call Hubs for an updated report. If we get some rain, then hit the lower river near the Easter seal and canyon entrance. Remember to conserve your catch Tight Lines and we will see you on the water Vic Carrao www.guidebc.com sts@guidebc.com 604- 671-FISH ( 3474)
