Current Report
LATE APRIL Spring is in full swing! The streams and rivers are in great shape. Both brook trout and smallmouth are being caught. Trips on both the Shenandoah and James produced fish. The 'doah gave up the most while the James saw fish up to 16" caught. Most fish were taken on crayfish and grub patterns. A few fish on the 'doah were eager to take a baitfish. The brook trout have been on fire! The little brookies are taking just about anything thrown to them. Size 14 & 16 Quill Gordans along with March Browns have been taking fish on the surface.C-K nymphs, Pheasant tails and Hares Ears have been producing sub surface and on the bottom. In the upcoming weeks as the air and water tempertures continue to warmthe smallmouth fishing will improve. I don't see how the brook trout fishing can improve much- it is HOT!! Give me a call to book a day and enjoy a spring day fishing the beautiful waters of Central Virginia.
