Current Report
Fraser Valley report for the week of Sept 27, 2005 Watch for our new weekly column “Find the Fish” Every Thursday in the Province News Paper, Sports section. Note: We still have October 29/30 available for one boat, and the second week of November which is some of the best fishing for Chum, Coho and Sturgeon. We have just hired an associate guide to help us out for the weeks of October 6 to 26 so we now have 1 boat available to book. Jet Boating Clinic Fraser River from Mission to Yale I have been asked by several new jet boat owners to put together a clinic on Jet Boating the Fraser River. The clinic would cover, navigation, reading water, shallow water jet boating and Fraser canyon rapids along with some safety tips. At this point I am interested in numbers of people who would be interested in this type of seminar. If you are, please e-mail me. Weekly update Fraser River / Fraser Valley Report Salmon The Fraser River has fished well this week. Lots of Pink salmon continue to migrate up the Fraser with good fishing from the mouth all the way to Hope. Good numbers of Chinook Salmon are being caught be anglers bar fishing in the Chilliwack area as well as a few Chum Salmon starting to show up. We landed 2 bright Chum yesterday fishing with spoons near the Harrison River. Sturgeon Sturgeon fishing continues to be spectacular. Lots of fish in the 4 to 7 foot range with some very large fish over 7 feet. Last week an associate landed his largest fish ever measuring 11’1” to the fork, which is well over 13 feet total length. This fish took 5 ½ hours to land with 5 tired anglers. This fish was released unharmed as all sturgeon must be released. If you’re planning on visiting the Vancouver area this fall come join us for some great fun and fishing for trophy salmon and sturgeon. We are also offering remote wilderness river trips for trout and Quad rentals in the Harrison Hot Springs area. Interior Lakes Interior lakes have been producing good results for both fly and trollers. Sheridan Lake picked up a bit as did Bridge, Fawn and Irish. These lakes are located along the Highway 24 fishing route between Little Fort and 100 mile house. The Merritt and Kamloops area are both fishing well for small to medium trout. Looking to tie some trout patterns, try these fly patterns on our website at http://www.guidebc.com/flypatt erns.asp Vedder River/Chehalis Pray for rain as the Vedder and Chehalis are in desperate need of water. Some fish trickling in but we need some substantial rain for these rivers to begin fishing well. A few Coho getting caught a first light, Pinks and the odd Chum and Chinook. Once we get some rain, this river will really turn on. Harrison River The Harrison River is fishing well for Pink Salmon, lots of fish have now moved up the river so you can fish from the confluence all the way up to the graveyard and find fish. Yesterday we saw quite a few Chum moving into the river and had a Coho chase my spoon right to the boat. A few Harrison Chinook starting to show up so it’s really starting to pick up on this river. Remember to conserve your catch Tight Lines and we will see you on the water Vic Carrao www.guidebc.com sts@guidebc.com 604- 671-FISH ( 3474)
