Trout Tales Fly Fishing Adventures Sunshine Coast Fishing Report June 14, 2006 If you were ever interested in fly fishing on the Sunshine Coast of B.C. now is the time! All of our lakes are productive and the fish are biting. Dragonflies, damselflies and caddis are hatching on most lakes. There have also been some great ant hatches as well. Garden Bay lake and the other lakes in the Pender Harbour area are a great place to start. Within a 5 minute drive you have 4 great lakes to work with. Garden Bay, Mixal, Hotel and Sakinaw lakes are all right there. All of them have beautiful cutthroat trout that should keep you busy all day long. The most attractive thing about this area (besides the scenery) is that if the fishing is slow on the particular lake you are fishing, get out of your float tube (I just roll my waders down) hop in the truck and go around the corner to the next lake. You can’t go wrong when you troll around the edges of these lakes looking for where the fish are holding. If you happen to get the occasional snag don’t worry too much, these are the places that the fish are holding and you may have to lose a few flies to get them hooked. When you are lucky enough to get into a fish don’t be in a hurry to continue on around the lake. I will often turn around after I have released the fish and come through the exact location I just trolled with my line as close to the same depth as possible. The flies that you must have for your fly box include; muddler minnow, wolly buggers (green, black and brown), rainbow minnows, damselfly nymphs, dragonfly nymphs and adult caddis flies. Good Luck! <'}}}>< Tightlines, Scott Elliott Trout Tales Flyfishing Adventures www.trouttales.ca fishon@trouttales.ca 604-885-0773
