Current Report
We offer some excellent angling opportunities for sea-run trout, steelhead, resident and sea-run Bull trout, Cutthroat trout and Rainbow trout. Some of the best trout fishing occurs during early spring, summer and fall on both rivers and lakes in the Vancouver and Merritt area's. We fish for Bull Trout or Dolly Varden as they are often referred to, rainbows & cutthroat on several remote rivers and we offered stillwater fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Merritt /Kamloops area. Feb to April - is good for resident Bull Trout, Cutthroat and the occassional Rainbow. Water levels are consistently low as most of our local rain turns into snow in the Alpine glaciers. These resident fish are much smaller than their sea-run cousins in June but they can offer some steady action for anglers looking for some adventure. Size ranges from 10 to 16 inches with the odd fish up to 20 inches. There is alway a chance at hooking into a surprise steelhead as they begin to enter the system in early March. May 15 to July 15 - is peak fly fishing for sea-run Bull Trout on the Upper Pitt River. These fish enter the Upper river from the lake heading for thier spawning ground in Garabladi Park. These fish are chrome bright and full of fight. Size ranges from 3 to 10 lbs with lots of fish in the 4-6 lb range. Some of the larger fish can reach as much as 14lbs. This is one of British Columbia's Premier fisheries with limited access and a wilderness experience. We also target Cutthroat on the Fraser & Harrison Rivers as trout feeding on salmon fry migrating back to the ocean Currently the local rivers are fishing well for steelhead and trout. As water temperatures increase, fly fishing improves. We expect good fly fishing in our region from February onwards. Conserve your catch Vic Carrao STS Guiding Service www.guidebc.com
