Current Report
The Watauga River has been fishing well this year. There are currently plenty of yellow mayflies (#18-14). We have found that a #16 sulfur pattern works well for dry fly fishing. large bead head nymps (#14-12) have been producing some nice fish. We like prince nymphs in size 12, and of course BH pheasant tails in size 14. Black ants are always a good choice this time of year, and the Japanese Bettles should be starting up in the next few days. East Tennessee Fly Fishing guides have also found that a good firefly pattern is a wonderful producer. Also, smal (#10) wooly buggers ied with tan materials will be a good producer in the weeks ahead.
