Current Report
The Big Thompson produced today!!! 3 other anlgers and I battled 20-30mph winds, but patiently waited for breaks in the howling and netted about 10-12 rainbows in the 8"-12" range between us (with several other lost). Flashback Pheasant Tails in the #18- #22 range (some beadhead) along with small red midges in the #20-#22 range produced all of the action. We fished just on the Estes Park side of Waltonia by the Big Thompson handicapped access ramp (1/4 mile up and down stream of the parking area). We fished from 8am- 12am and were all pleased with our results. Snow started to move down the canyon from Estes around noon and we headed back to the front range. The Big T gets the nickname the Big Skunk by most in the party, but not on this day. Don't be afraid of 30ish degree days and look try 2 dropper rigs with beadheads, fishing the deeper runs. Enjoy!!!
