Current Report
Beaverhead: fishing well mid-day, baetis coming off on warmer days. Browns are on reds and taking chartreuse eggs sz. 14-18. Buggers in yelow, black and white are producing well on cloudier days. Poindexter Slough: Fishing is awesome, Browns are spawning heavily and the big boys (17"-22")are stacked up. Have had some good dry action on warmer days. Fishing should be good here through March. Bighole River: Colder days are a little tough, but Browns are spawning and they are taking Red San Juans (sz. 10-16) readily. They are also eating egg patterns ranging from peach and oregon cheese to red and pink. Check the weather before you head out. Jefferson river: Jeff has water and the fishing has been good. Lots of fish eating Sz. 4-6 buggers in olive,Black and white. Also try dead drifting or slow stripping your favorite crawdad pattern. As with the other freestone rivers in the area you will want to check weather before you head out. Ruby river: Ruby is perfect level for wading. Browns are on redds and fishing is excellent. Take your favorite egg patterns SZ. 14- 18 as well as an assortment of midge pupa and sow bugs. If you are lucky you will get into some baetis hatches. Clark Canyon: We have water!!! Lake is at 62,000 Acre feet right now and is on the rise. Ice fishing should start pretty soon. fishing from the bank has slowed down.
