Current Report
Green River Fishing Report Fly Fishing Report for September 10, 2006 Flows: All flows will remain at 800 cfs until further notice. Ratings on this report will consist of excellent, great, good, fair and poor. A-section: Good Dry flyfishing has been fair. Adding a dropper has been best and at times, great. Attractor droppers have been best. Terrestrials have been fair this week. We had some cooler temperatures and wet weather contributing to a decline in terrestrial action. A size12 brown chernobyl ant or beetle has been best. I have seen a few size 12 brown beetles come into the water. There are lots of field crickets present and a few hoppers. I have seen a lot of olive tan hoppers in the grass around Little Hole, size 10. There is a psuedo bwo hatch from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. They are a #22 -#24 and a few fish are keying on them. The nymphing has been good with a streamer and emerger during the hatch. There have very few caddis out. The body color of the caddis has varied a lot. I have seen green, yellow, tan, and black. Also keep in mind, fishing is always slow after a front comes through at this time of year. Dry Flies to use: Green River Para Cricket #8-12 Black PMX #8-12 Beetles #10-18 Hoppers #6-12 Fat Albert (tan) #8-10 Stimulators #10-12 Elk Hair Caddis #12-16 Gulper Special #20-22 Parachute Adams #20-24 Brown Chernobyl Ant 8-12 Flying Ant #12 Nymph fishing has been great using a streamer as an attractor and a scud, san juan worm, WD40, or bwo emerger for the trailer. The fish are keyed of scuds in the morning and mayfly nymphs in the afternoon. I have seen a few large scuds around a size 10, but most are between size 18-22 Nymphs to use: Gray WD40 #22 Insert favorite scud pattern here #18-22 Miracle nymph #18-22 Gray Soft Hackle #16-20 Barr's Emerger #20-22 Ginger Woolly Bugger #6-8 Flesh Fly #6-8 Ginger Bunny #6-8 Pheasant Tail #12-22 San Juan worm Streamers: Good (best fished under an indicator) Try black or ginger buggers or bunnies. Best in low light conditions. For sections B and C visit our website
