Current Report
Fishing just outside of Denver can be extremely rewarding. Waterton Canyon is just S. of Denver off Wadsworth Blvd. Fishing is extremely challenging this year due to heavy rains which cause heavy flows. The river is clear and lower than 2 weeks ago. Fishing with midges is exciting, a nice afternoon hatch of BWO in the 18-20 range have been very productive in the early afternoon. Watch for cloud cover, hatches are better. A little known area is inside Chatfield St. Park. Drive into the park, find the dam where the S. Platte starts its journey to down town Denver. You can find nice size trout and the occasional walleye below the dam. Great time to fish.
