Current Report
Fished a nice hole about 5 1/2 miles into the canyon on Tues. July 15th. Headed in after work and was fishing by 6:30 pm. Caddis and midge hatches were present but slow at first. The hatches and subsequent rises picked up steadily until dark. I caught 20 raindbows and 4 browns (with countless misses) in the two hours I fished; all on dries. While most were landed on E.H. caddis' size 16-18 a few took a size 18 para. adams and several more on larger stimulators as the light faded. The half-hour just before dark saw the most action with fish striking rapidly in a frenzied manner. Historically I've had better luck nymphing back in the canyon but this night was a real dry-flying treat. On a side note; I encourage all who take responsible joy in fishing these waters to do their part in enforcing regulations along this waterway as I've witnessed a real surge in illegal harvesting and fishing methods inside the canyon. The CDOW doesn't seem to be putting much pressure on those who ignore the regulations put in place to maintain this wonderful and wild fishery. Take down license plate numbers and report immediately to local authorities @ 1-800-265-6648
