Current Report
The Colorado River
The Colorado River is a large
river and best fished from a drift
boat (we use McKenzie type
boats and rafts that are very
comfortable). Our float trips on
the Colorado and Roaring Fork
rivers have been very productive
with some fish that will scare
you. Mostly we have been fishing,
drys with droppers, streamers,
but there have been hatches of
Caddis. Some large fish are being
caught on stone fly nymphs,
copper Johns-- try the red
ones-- These nymphs should be
fished deep. My guides have
been fishing autumn splendors,
small nymphs. The Colorado and
the Roaring Fork are big rivers
and if you are not accomplished
or familiar with the water please
leave it to a professional guide.
We do float and wade most of the
very good water on the upper
Fork. Our Shop is located next to
Clarks Market in Basalt. (new
location). Roy C. Palm
