Current Report
Fishing has been very good
this week, warm weather has
played a big role in waking
up the fork! We have been
wade and float fishing
the "FOrk" this week and
both methods have been very
successful. Fish are Hot and
Hungry right now. A
noticable
difference in the midge
activity with a slight
increase in water temps has
stirred the bite on the
Roaring Fork. Take
advantage of the warm spell
before things cool off.
Nymph fishing the deep slow
pools with Princes, Copper
John's and Egg patterns
(sz16-18) as your lead flies
and fishing smaller midge
droppers (sz18-20) like
tunsten zebra midges, std's,
red TC midge Larva and Cream
Delights on a good dead
drift, with enough weigth to
tap those nymphs along the
bottom will surely have you
bending into solid "fork"
fish.
Catch of the Week
A seven year old and a
beautiful 16" Rainbow
Today!!!
Special Report
Focus your efforts from
Basalt to
Glenwood...although the
upper river is fishable its'
banks are more iced and snow
crusted as this canyon
stretch sees less sunlight
to warm things up, from
Basalt down the valley opens
exposing and warming the
river.
One-Week Fishing Forecast
The forecast should keep the
bite on, although some
precipitation is anticipated
this week, temps appear to
remain stable and so should
the fishing.
Two-Week Fishing Forecast
We'll discuss this as it
gets closer, this is
Coloraado...it could be 45
degrees and sunny or we
could get a huge dump!
Hatch Info
Midges are active right now,
but dry fly fishing is
sparse and unpredictable.
Nymphing really producing
great results right now.But,
just be sure to have a
handful of 18-20 midge dries
like Morgan's Midge or
Hatching Midges just in case
you see a few noses poking
the surface!
Baitfish Report
A little cold to swing or
strip streamers in general,
but late in the day who is a
Brown to Discriminate
against a properly presented
autumn slpendor or stinging
sculpin
Hot Fly Patterns
Tunsten Zebra Midges, Black
BLM's, Black STD's, Red TC
Midges, Cream Delights and
WD 50's in wine.
River Flows
perfect for wading anywhere
between Basalt and
Glenwood.
