Post a Fly | My Flies
Kickin Hopper, Schiel's

Submitted by Chad Schiel

Description
This is my go-to hopper fly, and for another year it has proven itself time and time again. Its extremely lifelike, easy to see, it stimulates the water and has a low floating body just like real grass hoppers. The large back legs with oversized feet make this fly look like alive with no effort at all, It can be completely dead drifted, just let the current and swirls grab at the feet making it look like its kicking and struggling. The wings are bright colored just like many grasshoppers found throughout the western United States. The wing post on top of the fly makes for an easy to see strike indicator allowing for long casts in even the most turbulent water. This fly has caught Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Golden Trout, Cut Throat Trout, Steelhead, Large and Small Mouth Bass, and different types of Pan Fish. This stimulating grasshopper is a must for all fly fisherman.
